Voting Day Oct 15th

“Steve Blacklock would bring a dynamic voice to Comox town council. Steve thinks for himself, and with measured thought and consideration is not afraid to speak his mind.  Steve has what it takes!”

– Patti Fletcher (Town of Comox Councillor 2002-2014)

“I have known Steve Blacklock for over 30 years in the Comox Valley and strongly endorse his candidacy as a councillor for the Comox town council. Steve has a deep understanding of the issues and challenges facing this community.  What he brings to the table is a high level of integrity, a devotion to community service and good honest down-to-earth common sense. I cannot think of a more ideal individual for this position.”

– Dr. Chris Bellamy (Physician)

About Steve

I am a candidate in the Town of Comox’s upcoming general election. General Voting Day is October 15th.

I am 46 years old and live in central Comox near the Community Centre with my spouse and our rambunctious 9-year-old daughter. Growing up in Comox, I learned to love the outdoors and respect nature. Adventure trail running and alpine skiing are my two favourite hobbies.

I finished undergraduate studies at SFU and post-graduate studies at UBC before starting my professional career as a commercial appraiser and land use consultant. I am passionate about evidence-based decision making and land development issues. I have work experience in both the public and private sectors, and I currently serve on the National Board of Directors for the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC).

Simply stated: I know and love this community. My goal as a town councillor would be to listen carefully to residents and then use my extensive experience in professional and non-profit governance to help achieve a democratic balance across varied community interests. I am a critical thinker and promise to thoroughly research, solicit engagement from residents and town staff, and carefully consider options and potential outcomes before making decisions on key issues.

My only agenda is to examine each issue at the council table with diligence and energy. I will communicate directly with all citizens and will act within the confines of legislative mandates to guide municipal policy in a progressive manner.

“Sometimes the right person comes around just at the right time, and I’m confident Steve would be an outstanding Councillor for the Town of Comox. I don’t know anyone else in the valley who is more plugged into the community, gives his time generously and knows what makes it tick. Comox is changing in front of our eyes and I believe Steve has the dedication, passion and unique ability to make everyone’s voice heard at the table.”

– Chris Morrison, Co-owner, Church St. Taphouse

Issues

Local issues: affordable housing, infrastructure deficits, shifting population demographics, respecting the natural environment, mitigating and preparing for impacts of climate change, all while managing the inevitable growth and development that accompanies being in such an amazing place to live, work, play, and visit.

Here are a few things I have heard from our citizens that I would seek support for if elected to Comox Town Council:

Support Steve

No candidate can make a run for public office on their own. I really appreciate the support of this amazing community and my fantastic volunteers. I humbly ask for your support and perhaps the biggest way people could help would be to amplify my campaign: share this website, like and follow my social media channels, and connect with me between now and general election day on Saturday, October 15th. Thank you!

I will be out visiting Comox residents over the next 4 weeks, but if I should miss you at your doorstep, please reach out to me directly via phone at 250-702-7323, or via e-mail at steve@steve4.comox.ca
